Michael Bindas

Epee Coach

Coach Michael is a professional fencing coach with over 20 years of fencing experience teaching a variety of students. 


He received his fencing coach qualifications by studying with many qualified coaches, including Maitre d’Armes Eric Desperier and 1996 U.S. Olympian & Stevens Institute of Technology Head Coach, James Carpenter. He is a certified coach under the United States Fencing Coaches Association and member of Academia d’Armes Internationale and is qualified to teach all ages of students.


He is currently the Montclair High School Epee Coach and has led its women’s team to its 2019 2nd place state team finish.

            He has taught many fencers in the past at Annemasse Club d’Escrime, Easton Fencing Club, Atlantic Fencing Academy, and Durkan Fencing Academy and now is joining us at Wanglei International Fencing Club.

Lei Wang

Head Coach

Coach Wang is an Olympic Fencer from Shanghai, China with over 20 years of fencing experience.  


He participated in the Olympic Games in 2004 and 2008.  Coach Wang became the first male Olympic medalist in fencing for China when he won the 2004 Silver Medal in Men’s Épée.  In 2006, he won the Men's Épée Individual Champion at the World Fencing Championships.


Coach Wang has been coaching for 10 years: 8 years as the head coach of Shanghai's Men's Épée Team and 2 years as head coach of China's National Men's Épée Team.


As part of a growing trend of Olympic Athletes immigrating to America, Coach Wang has recently immigrated to the United States and settled down in the Princeton area of New Jersey with his wife, July, and 6-year-old daughter, Aimee.


Slava Danilov

Epee/Foil Coach

Coach Slava is a professional fencing coach and master from the Ukraine with over 40 years of experience.

He participated in the 1995 and 1996 European Cup on the Men’s Épée Team.  The team took the Gold in 1995 and took the Bronze in 1996.  In 1996, he won a gold medal in the International World Championships in Brussels.

He has served as the head coach of Morris Fencing Club in Randolph, New Jersey and also head coach at Ridge High School in Basking Ridge, NJ. In the more distant past, he has coached at the Fencing Academy of South Jersey, Medeo Fencing Club, and the Kharkov Fencing Club in Ukraine.

Presently, Coach Slava is an Assistant Coach at the University of Pennsylvania.


Tomasz Stusinski

Saber Coach

Coach Tomasz is an Olympic level fencer from Poland with over 30 years of experience.

His fencing achievements include winning National Champion of Poland four times, Champion of Europe, a World Cup finalist several times, a World Champion finalist and participating in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, after which he finished his career as a professional fencer and started coaching. 

Coach Tomasz then completed his bachelor's degree in Sports Management and his master's degree in Physical Education at the Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw. Concurrent to his studies at the university, Coach Tomasz received his fencing coach qualifications at the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice from one of the most famous fencing teachers in the world, Zbigniew Czajkowski. Coach Tomasz is qualified to teach all ages of students, from beginner’s level up to Olympic level.

Beginning his coaching career in 2000, in Warsaw, Poland, Coach Tomasz then moved to the United States in 2003. Since 2007, he has resided in New Jersey.

Coach Tomasz Stusinski is excited to teach sabre fencing to everyone seeking personal improvement and is ready to introduce newcomers and beginners to this fascinating sport.


Jason Choy

Saber Coach

Jason has been Ridge High School's girls head coach since 2015. He graduated from Ridge in 2009, being a part of the 2009 New Jersey State Championship men's team. He attended the University of Notre Dame, being a part of the team that won the 2011 NCAA Championships. Jason has competed in numerous national and international tournaments on the cadet, junior, and senior level. Has earned multiple national medals and has been ranked as high as 4th on the junior points list and 13th on the senior points list.


Richard Chang

Foil/Epee Coach

Coach Chang has over 40 years of fencing experience. A passionate fencing sportsman, possessed a coaching certificate in Paris 1974. He was a champion fencer at national level from 1968 to 1973 in Taiwan. Afterwards, he moved onto coaching college and high school teams, such as St John’s University, SUNY Maritime College, and West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North.  

Graduated from China Maritime College, held a Maritime Chief Mate license. Earned Computer science degree from St. John’s University 1986 and an EMBA of Wegner College 1996. 

Coach currently coach fencing in high school. He focuses on methodology, concept of processes and procedures during skill training and knowledge transfer.
